About Nici Derosier





I am a mixed media artist, illustrator, writer, poet and storyteller. I gamely attempt to balance this happy creative mayhem with the challenging job of raising my three wonderful sons! Although I have a B.F.A. from the Corcoran College of Art and Design, I took many years off from the studio to be a preschool teacher and then a full-time mom. Now that my boys are school age, I have rediscovered the joys of creating! All aspects of my work flow from the same wellspring...my collages and mixed media pieces act as a form of visual poetry, and my writing gives a voice to the colors in my heart. I enjoy "arting up" utilitarian items, and making the ordinary extraordinary! I create pieces that are rich in color, texture, shimmer, and whimsy, yet have about them a presence that brings to mind a sacred relic, a treasure.
