"Design Your Kairos:
A Hands-On Journey in Creating Time through Creativity"
Presented by Marney K. Makridakis
Sunday, June 10, 2012, 10:00-2:00pm (includes lunch)
Lake Oswego, OR

This dynamic workshop will be held in a magnificent, sublime location in Lake Oswego, Oregon where Portland Storyteller, Terry Jordan will welcome participants with a peaceful, centering story and opening remarks before introducing Author and ArtellaLand.com Founder Marney Makridakis to lead the workshop.

The innovative creativity workshop explores the Greek concept of kairos (non-linear, non-sequential time) through art, inviting you to imagine, create, and completely reshape the way you experience time.

Marney begins with guided imagery and creative writing prompts that explore of time through everything from personal history to epic mythology. Participants will then be guided in the creation of a personal mixed-media art piece that will serve as a visual representation of ideal time: the time you literally create by tapping into your endless inner creative resources.

All this and more, in the company of kindred spirits gathered together in this inspired, soul-enriching event!

Ample time is woven in to finish your creative project so that you can take it home; time to enjoy lunch together; time to receive support and of course; time to make new connections.

  • Mat board, canvas or sturdy piece cardboard, at least 8” x 10”
  • Favorite easy adhesives (glue, glue stick, gel medium, glue, double-stick tape)
  • Contributions to our shared art pile: everyone is asked to bring a few “artsy bits” to share with the class (i.e. decorative paper sheets and scraps, ribbon, lace, images, etc…anything you’d like to to add into the potluck for everyone to use in the class. These items will be gathered during a fun Time Creation ritual we’ll be doing together!)

  • A few favorite colors of paint
  • Pens and markers
  • Other decorations or embellishments

"This book represents my journey from time management to time metamorphosis. It is a gentle step-by-step guide that helps you control your experience of time and use it in a way that consistently supports you and the highest vision of your life. You can finally drop all the archaic view and limitations of time that have held you back from fully embracing the wild beautiful truth: time is not a defined line; it is instead a vibrant, completely moldable, layered, multi-faceted work of art that is in your artistic hands to create and design, each and every day. Creating Time is a fascinating adventure where you'll not only imagine and create but completely reshape the way you think about your own time, using art, science, and imagination as powerful catalysts for lasting change. -- Marney K. Makridakis
