Marney's Musings: Kai's Map
Artellagram 6-23-12

Several months ago, Kai got pretty upset about something (naturally, I don’t even remember what it was).  He stormed into his playroom and sat down at a table with a marker and paper, and began scribbling furiously and intently. I later scanned his creation:

As he continued his scribbling fervor, I checked in on him. Here’s how our conversation went:

Me: Hi Kai, what are you drawing?

Kai: A MAP.

Me: Oh? What kind of map?

Kai: A map to get out of here.

Me: You mean out of the playroom?

Kai: NO…

Me: You mean out of the house?

Kai: NO! To get out of feeling so angry!

Well, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I was sad that he was feeling such intense emotion, but so obviously beyond joyous that he had tapped into his own creativity to help him try to deal with his feelings!

What kind of map do you need? Do you need a map to get you out of feeling something? Or a map to take you into feeling something?

Where do you want to go…and how might a map take you there?

What color are your map scribbles? :-)

If you’re intrigued by the idea of mapping and what creative mapping might do for your project, goal, or creative business, you might like to take a look at Mapping and Mentoring with Marney, which begins its 3rd cycle in July (applications due July 7). If you are already have a good sense of direction of where you are headed, but could use a creative hand to guide you, this innovative mentoring program provides the structure and support to help you reach your goals quicker, more efficiently, and with greater results than doing it on your own.
